I was wondering how to best network and interact with those in the brain injury community. Let me share what we do: I run a wellness and sports medicine office in downtown Edmonds. We utilize something called pulsed energy therapy. With a concussion we apply a 90 minute protocol to the concussed person. We have found that most concussion symptoms will resolve during this hour and a half session. This does not mean the brain injury is healed but that it is healing. Additional neurological testing is still needed. Some people require additional sessions either in our office or at home. We have found this pulsed energy protocol to work consistently with brain injury and even stroke. There are over 5000 research studies demonstrating its efficacy (though none have been done on our specific concussion protocol.)
So, where do we go with this? I'm fully aware that there are no treatments for TBI/concussions. (But we seem to doing something that is close!) I've had people state the obvious - the need for research. We'd welcome any reserach on this protocol but that's not something we're trained at.
(I do have an article coming out in the BIA of Oregon newsletter, Fall 2008.)
I welcome your comments, ideas, and suggestions.
Thanks,
Ted Neff
