The Federal TBI Program’s TBI Technical Assistance Center at NASHIA is pleased to announce the availability of its new “Collaboration and Coalition Building Technical Assistance Tool.”

The TBI Technical Assistance Center created this tool to assist State TBI Lead Agencies and Statewide TBI Advisory Boards/Councils with identifying potential partners for collaboration and to assist with developing strategies for approaching these groups. Partnering and working together allows agencies and organizations to combine talents and resources to
accomplish goals that would be difficult to achieve alone.

The tool consists of a three-step exercise; the steps (which are explained in more detail in the tool) include: 1) creating a list of current and potential partners, 2) determining the present level of collaboration, and
3) completing the “Collaboration Grid.”

Completing the exercise and grid will help establish common ground to begin discussions and enhance existing relationships with the ultimate goal of working together to develop coordinated State systems of services and supports.

While this tool was created with State TBI Lead Agencies and Statewide TBI Advisory Boards/Councils in mind, it can be modified and adapted for use by other groups seeking partners for collaboration.

The “Collaboration and Coalition Building Technical Assistance Tool” can be found at your TBI Collaboration Space at <<a href="http://www.tbitac.nashia.org/tbics/">http://www.tbitac.nashia.org/tbics/>. Once logged in, click on "Products & Resources" on the red horizontal bar, then click the "Product/Resource Look-up" link; in the keyword field, enter “Collaboration and Coalition Building Technical Assistance Tool” and then click the “Search” button; in the next window click the DOC link under the title to download the tool.

Feel free to contact Heather Crown (hacrown@tbitac.nashia.org or 302-829-
8775) at the TBI Technical Assistance Center at NASHIA with questions or to discuss this and other strategies for collaboration and coalition building.
